Gil Blanco's appearances with the Yankees in 1965 were sporadic, as he appeared in one game in April, 7 games in May, one game in June, 5 games in July, 2 games in August and one final game in September. In total, Blanco appeared in 28 games in the Majors over two seasons, going 3-5 with a 4.45 ERA. Nine of his 28 appearances were starts. He was traded to the Athletics on June 10, 1966 with Roger Repoz and Bill Stafford (#281) for Billy Bryan (#51) and Fred Talbot (#58). That began a five year minor league odyssey that saw him make stops with the Athletics, Astros and Expos organizations up through the 1971 season.
Art Lopez made his Major League debut on opening day 1965, pinch-running for Mickey Mantle (#350) and scoring the tying run in the ninth inning in a game the Yankees would eventually lose to the Twins in 11 innings. He stayed with the club through the first few months of the season and spent the summer playing with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens. Lopez would return to the Yankees as a September call-up. For his 38-game one season career, he hit .143 (7 for 49). Lopez found much more success in Japan where he played for six seasons between 1968 and 1973. An All-Star in 1968, Lopez hit .290 in Japan with 116 home runs.
Ross Moschitto got the longest look by the Yankees among these three rookies. On the club's opening day roster in 1965, Moschitto stayed with the Yankees throughout the season and appeared in 96 games. After missing the entire 1966 season, he returned for 14 more games with the Yankees in 1967. In 110 total career games, Moschitto hit .184 with a home run and 3 RBIs.
August 21, 2020 from Charleston, SC - Card #169
In my largest (by volume) purchase to date, I spent an enjoyable hour or so in mid-August browsing the eBay store of seller mantlerulz and clicking Add to Cart on 30 different cards. We had previously added 29 cards to our set back in February from the Philly Show. The 30 cards, all commons, cost me $52 total (before shipping and taxes) with the cards ranging in prices from $1 to $6. I love this haul and I found the seller's store by accident when I was browsing eBay in an attempt to add a few more cheap cards from the set's first series. With this purchase, we've now passed the quarter mark for completion of the set. We still have a long way to go, and quite a few pricey cards to add, but any day I can add 30 commons in excellent shape and at very low prices is a great day. At $6, this Yankees Rookie Stars card was my big ticket purchase from this lot.

The Card / Yankees Team Set
I have to imagine the only collectors seeking out this particular card are Yankees' team set builders and people like me who are building a 1965 Topps set. It's impressive that Topps was able to get this card into the final series of its set as all three players had made their big league debuts that April. This would be the first and last Topps flagship set appearances for Lopez and Moschitto, while Blanco received a card with the Athletics in the 1967 Topps set.
1965 Season - Blanco
Blanco was only 19 years old when he made his big league debut on April 24th against the Angels, pitching a scoreless ninth inning of a 6-3 Yankees win. As noted above, it would appear he was with the team the entire season but was used very infrequently. All told he appeared in 17 games and went 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA over 20 1/3 innings pitched.

1965 Season - Lopez
As mentioned above, Lopez spent April, May and September with the Yankees and the bulk of the summer in Toledo. In the same April 24th game in which Blanco made his debut, Lopez collected his first big league hit with a single off the Angels' Dean Chance (#140).

1965 Season - Moschitto
In 39 of the 98 games in which he appeared in 1965, Moschitto first entered the game as a pinch-runner and then would usually remain in the game as a late-inning defensive replacement. He hit his one and only big league home run on June 18th against the Twins' Jim Perry (#351) in an eventual 10-3 Yankees win.
